Comment Tart

Right. You are all obviously Psychic.
After the last couple of posts, got rather Fed Up with the lack of comments.
Thought that I might give up this malarkey.
Decided that was spending Far Too Much Time on the computer and not enough doing House Work.
So.
Decided to Stop Blogging.
But, for the hell of it, posted about the Naughty Grass.
Gloomily watched No Comments coming in.
Turned the computer off and Gardened. House worked. Did Wifely things and Motherly things and even went to a Fete.
I think that you all knew. You must have done.
Because when I turned on the computer today I had lots of lovely comments.
Hooray!
Love Blogging!
Must write another post!
What fun!
Quick!
What post shall I publish today!
Yippee!
Isn't blogging the Best!
Well.
You can see that am Very Shallow Person indeed.
Hopelessly needy and such a sucker for a Comment.
Nearly my first year of blogging is up. You would think I would be a Mature Blogger by now and Simply Not Care about Comments and Followers.
But Am Not.
Mature.
Am Comment Tart.
Am Follower Flirt.
Blogger Bait.
Right. Better go and do some more Wifely and Motherly things.
Sigh.
Life doesn't half get in the way, eh?!
xx

Worry not.I am busy devising a quickfire comments machine that I can fire of at the touch of a button. Will need a small basic subscription that would bring you three dozen genuine comments per month.xx
Meanwhile dont you dare stop blogging.

Oh yes, you have it. me too.

I lurk but don't always comment. Don't worry, we know you're out there! (-:

Well Ladybird.... you have 111 followers. Do you realize how huge that is? Lots of people are reading you even if they don't comment. I don't often comment on blogs that I enjoy reading... Don't you dare quit blogging even if tons of comments don't show up. You are delightful

Oh, that we didn't CARE to get a comment! I've actually been on sites where commmenting is disabled. Imagine! Comments make us feel warm, cozy, connected. We put ourselves out there and when not much comes in it's like calling when no one picks up the phone. Little do we know they're listening to our messages!

I never fail to be shocked when I am at a gathering and someone says they never miss reading me and yet they don't comment. So, I write and wonder.

I have tried to bear in mind the old adage: "Better to write for yourself and have no audience than to write for an audience and have no self." Bear in mind - but not follow. This was obviously a man and not nearly as needy as I. I'm glad I'm not alone!! :)

I'm a complete comment whore, too. Commiserations. It's a miserable existence.

Never fear, another faithful reader here. I always look forward to your posts and the smile that they bring to my day.

Like Dorie the fish would have said, "Just keep blogging, blogging, blogging..."

Yeah, I love the comments too, it sort of validates why we blog. Keep on blogging please!

Some of us are not bloggers so we don't write anywhere, we read.

I used to blog, I was never very comfortable doing it as am I not quite comfortable leaving a trail of thoughts on the internet. This also applies to comments and usenet posts from back in the day.

So, I read lots of blogs in google reader sometimes catching up on a month of posts at a time, it's like reading a collection of articles or a chapter in someone's life. I comment from time to time but usually prefer not to.

I wish there were another way to show that I am reading and paying attention other than commenting, a like button perhaps?

Please do keep writing, I've enjoyed reading you from the very beginning, Boliath xx

Was Blogger having a hissy fit? There always seem to be myriad comments on your posts.

I too love the comment thing, in fact I have a t-shirt proclaiming this. Emblazoned across the boobage are is the phrase 'Comment Junkie' !!

I love comments and followers too. We can be shallow together.
It is awful when you post something and no-body puts anything down- you think- am I getting that boring???
I know myself that sometimes I only have time for a very quick read and no time to comment so I forgive everyone!!!

Oh no - don't stop blogging LWM. Love looking in whenever I have the chance. You are a reason to be cheerful! A x

Have chuckled and laughed and had a quiet teary moment over all your comments. Tomorrow will reply to one and all. Troy... you are a Bad Boy. And so are you GG. And hugely funny. Robynn... thanks. That man was right.
See you tomorrow... off to welcome two guinea pigs into the family... tell you more later.
YOU ALL ROCK.

As Brucie might say....You're My Favourite. Would like to echo the comment made by Kevin. I lurk also and now feel guilty for not popping in more often to say Hi. Please Don't Stop Blogging- you are appreciated, LWM. ;-)

Just so as you know, I sometimes read but don't comment (as I did with your last post). Too little time, too many blogs. But get yourself a statcounter and you can see how many people popped in - it's addictive!

Corey Schwartz said...

Don't worry. we're ALL comment tarts.

Funny, you and I always have like the exact same number of followers!

Paradise Lost In Translation said...

I love comments. It doe shelp oyu fell connected t& that there's a point to what you do. I have never had more than 17! Mostly it averages 7! You get so many comments 7 have so many followers.A blogging friend told me I need to be a comments whore, give comments in order to get them, which I think is far more shallow than simply wanting them! I know many people who enjoy my blog, bu tthey don't leave comments!

Kathy G said...

You can NEVER have too many comments!

Who doesn't love a good comment? And follower? Means we must be popular right? How quickly we revert to being back in the playground. Wish I could rise above it, but I can't. Tragic really. Who said we were suitable to bring up small children when we can't sort this bit of our psyche out! x

Pam said...

I read all the time but sometimes don't comment. Not that I'm a lurker - I just can't think of witty things to say sometimes and don't want to sound boring, like now :-)
Please do keep blogging

Hi Ladybird,I'm not doing a Troy or Geraldgee, I am a different Pam to the one above, and new to your blog. So funny reading back through the grass naughty spot, the long wee, checking out the pjyama tag etc...so here's another very amused commenter to add to your growing list.

Debs -It was a pleasure!! And thanks for yours here...
GG-Now that looks like an idea. Can I have one, please. And bless you for last sentence. x
elizabethm -Glad to hear I am not the only one...!
KM - hello, lurker. Glad to see you!
LL - what a lovely thing to say... you are so right. Am being shallow and Downright Pathetic. Will stop immediately and just get on with the fun of blogging!
Robynn - THANK YOU for saying all of that... I just loved the saying... and it has gone straight home... because I think I was beginning to think about who I should write for, rather than what I wanted to say. Bless you! Hugs.xxxx
Mwa - !!! Might be miserable but you sure made me chuckle with this comment!
Troy - what can I say... your comments are always wonderfully funny/astute/funny/clever/funny. Or in this case... very very silly!! You got me again... x
Mrs M - I will do exactly what that fish did! And thanks for lovely comment. x
Joolz - it so does... that is exactly the word... only I was getting most of validation from comments and not from what I was writing. Derrr! Thanks for lovely comment though...
Boliath - did you know that you were my Very First Commenter a year ago?? You loved the fact that I had a hen called Thin Lizzy!! (sadly now an Ex-hen... gone to Happy Happy Land) Thanks for that first comment as it made my bloomin year!
GG - Oh, no, not another Bad Bad boy. But, hey ho, it makes me look damned popular!!!! xxxx

Maxine - that is such a lovely comment, thank you so much!! I REALLY appreciate it.x
WM - Thank you!! I have got a stat counter, but its one of those ones that counts every bloomin move, even mine! Fun though. And thanks for commenting. Much appreciated! x
CS - Glad you are one too! And glad also that we match with the followers!!x
PLIT - I must say, that when I go around commenting on loads of blogs, it makes sweet fanny adams difference to how many comments I get! And I agree, seems a really shallow way of getting validation. Right. Must do it!! xx
Kathy - AGREED!!! Yey to comments! x
BIB - Oh, I know, playground indeed... we are all children at heart!!Will have to have some costly therapy to make myself Not Care. x

I'm a bit late to this particular party but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think you're terrific and I'm glad that you're sticking around rather than taking your ball home with you.

What's more, anything that saves you from having to visit fetes can't be bad.

LWM - You do make me smile. You comment flirt you!

I'm not sure about what is the best way (to get more comments) but have you tried Google Analytics or Sitemeter? You will find that thousands are reading you! You can also register your site with Google Blogs who will index you.
Seasoned pros like: tara@sticky fingers, expatmum, dulwichmum...have loads of widgets and gadgets e.g. Stumbleupon etc. which also get you/your fab blog up the rankings....
If you e-mail them...they'd be happy to help. I am too but I am a flip flop blogger at the mo'. Need to re-energise myself!

A changing strapline also helps at the top of your blog...with your photo. I look to see what you put up there...

Ladybird World Mother said...

Matthew - oh thank you hugely! Will be sticking around, me and my ball. Thanks for commenting... xxx
Hadriana - BLESS YOUR HEART for your 'increasing my comments' comment... you are so kind. I reckon I need to be thankful for the lovely comments I get from people like you. You were my second ever comment! Thanks for that...xxxx

you're such a hoot. I'm sorry if I don't comment here as much as I'd like-- my housework seems to be meaner than yours and follows me in to my computer room (it and the four demanding children)-- however, I am here and I do read and I would be soooo sad if you had called it a day with your one year.

Congrats on your blogiversary you comment tart you ;-)
