Home Again Again!

Home again! Lovely.
The only thing is that everything looks so damned Straggly and Long. Grass. Hedges. Cats. Legs.
Cheered and Whooped as we made our way up the drive on getting home last night. Then looked at Garden.
'Crikey,' said Middle Son. 'It looks a bit Manky.'
We have been staying at my sister's house in Essex. Vast Garden. Twinkling Swimming Pool. Neat. Pristine. Edges cut with Nail Scissors, type of thing. Pots of glorious flowers. Gorgeous views across golden fields. Everything in its place.
Not Like Here.
Scruffy lawn with huge daisies and buttercups everywhere. Mole hills. Dead Plants in pots.
Think I have Orderly Garden Envy.
My mind is all Straggly and Untidy too, with 'Must do This and Must do That' all running Full Pelt. (Is there Half Pelt? And does it have something to do with hair? And is it less Straggly than Full Pelt?)
Am Yearning for Order. Everywhere there is dust or cat hair. Huge piles of Stuff to be moved. Letters to be answered. Bills.
So had better turn this thing off and get started. Do you Make Order? Or Create Order? Or just Order Order?
Quite fancy the last one.
Could Order Order from Huge Deckchair whilst reclining with Vast Cafetiere of Coffee. Reading the papers. Shouting at people to do things. Heaven.
Sigh.
Better Get On.
Lawns to mow. Things to move endlessly about until they end up in the same place. Washing to put out to dry. Washing to bring in and iron. Washing to be put away.
Getting home is lovely but there does seem an Awful Lot To Do.
Mind you, wouldn't have it any other way.
(Except, perhaps, to have Staff.
Now that would be Very Good Indeed.)

PS
Met a Blogger!! Absolutely Marvellous it was. He took us out in his speed boat, me and all my family (minus Eldest) plus friend and her little one. Beautiful day. Speeding about in places I haven't seen for years. And I got to drive too! (do you drive boats??) What a saint. It was rather like meeting up with family friend, except we had never met. Had such a nice time.
Thanks Hugely, Troy!

I'd go with the plunger of coffee and the shouting option. May as well cut straight to the chase...?

Welcome home! Haven't heard the term "Manky" in a while and it made me chuckle.
Good luck with the housework. Bloody horrible stuff.

Ooh welcome back! glad you chose blogging over ordering order; we might have had to wait a rather long time if you'd chosen to tidy the garden first and I do love reading what you've been up to!

Yay to meeting bloggy friends! I met one on my hols too, well strictly more than one really but that's another story!

Just goes to show the virtual world can be a gateway into the real world, and indeed, enhance it!

Welcome Home by the way :)

I like the image of edging the lawn with nail scissors. If you do discover how to Order Order, please do blog about it! And how lovely to meet a fellow blogger in the flesh!

i love the idea of being able to order order!!! how fantastic would that be! There's a lot to be said for the 'unkempt' and 'natural' look!

You may fool your other readers with your comment about Staff but I'm sure I caught a glimpse of a butler in the back of your car when you parked it at the boatyard. Wasn't he the guy with the tuxedo sat next to your gardener on the back seat?
Glad you enjoyed your "messing about on boats" time. You're all welcome back anytime.

Matthew - coffee and shouting... sums up my life totally!!
Pam - good word, isn't it!! Done washing... as in its on the line. Its the rest that gets me. Yeeuurrcchh.
Helen P - have mowed a bit of the lawn!! Am covered in green bits of lawn, in my hair and probably down my clothes. But have made a start!!
Suburbia - isnt it nice to meet a blogger. We had such fun talking about other bloggers, as if we really knew them, which we do, in a way.
Djan - there should be a book about nail scisssor gardening. Actually there probably is already. dammit. Will blog about ordering order, but it may be some time away as its Awful Hard to Do!!
NN - oh, that is just so nice. Thank you for reminding me... sometimes get overwhelmed by too much to do. Now I feel better about it. xx
wonderwoman - there's unkempt and natural, and downright disgraceful... think mine is the latter!!
Troy - dammit. And there was me thinking that you hadn't noticed.
(Always so essential to take one's Staff with one on holiday)
We LOVED our messing about in boats time. I loved seeing West Mersea across the water. And actually taking to the wheel!
Such fun. Thank you so much!!x

Welcome home. Only last week I asked myself why we bother to go away when everything is so chaotic when we get home.

I've long wanted a butler. I have a lot that needs buttling.

My garden sounds strangely like yours, and desperately needs some attention.

Glad you had a great trip.

I suffer from orderly garden envy,
clean kitchen floor envy and matching socks on the children envy!

Sounds like you had a great holiday - very pleasing. Now, first things first. Feet up, with your coffee, have a think, then make a list. If you are really up against it, set time limits along the lines of "I'll just see how much I can get done in half an hour" etc. Works for me! A x

Wouldn't it be wonderful to come home to perfection! I know in my minds eye how everything should be and maybe that's the problem perhaps I should set my minds eye lower then I'd not be disappiointed - or just get staff!

Oh the attraction of order! Love it when I see it, love it when, for about half a minute, I think I have achieved it. Mostly just think about it while wandering about the garden and drinking sauvignon.
And thank you particularly for your kind comment on my journey in and out of darkness blog. Seems a long time ago now, all's well.

Hahahaha! Glad you had a good time. Good luck with the laundry. I'm doing the same.

I do think some blogging friends are just like our regular friends that we simply don't get to see very often. We all know so MUCH about each other. Glad it wasn't awkward at all and you found you really DO have things in common.

Wish I had your very legitimate excuse for having things raggedy and helter skelter! I have "lovely lawn and garden" envy. When will there ever be time, energy, and money enough?!

Oh dear, post holiday blues. Everything goes to pot when we're away, but it's got to be worth it. Sit, drink coffee and shout - nothing will get done but it'll feel good!

Can almost always count on you to make me laugh. So glad you are home safe and sound with your keen wit in tact. I used to drive past a house where the people would be crawling around on the lawn on their hands and knees carefully trimming... doesn't bare thinking about. The woman wore one of those huge, old-fashioned bonnets that came way out in front of her face like blinders.

My family deems me bonkers in that my home must be tidy and clean before we leave on any trip. I can't bear to walk in to a mess. But the outside grows no matter what...sigh.

your sister has a pool boy and a gardener right?
not to worry about orderly garden envy, LOL enjoy anyway.

What lovely comments... sorry to do a general one. Mother in law is staying and doesnt 'get' blogging!! To put it mildly.
Rushing to do this while she is upstairs... and then getting entire family to do the cleaning... dusters at the go. Polish at the ready... if you cant have staff, use children.
See you soon!!xxx (she's going tomorrow)
