Comment Envy

I categorically do not blog for comments.
I absolutely do not.
I Do Not.
No. Totally Not.
Completely, utterly, do not.
No.

But will, of course, check in a Nonchalant Sort Of Way, that post looks alright. Isn't lonely. You know, that sort of thing.
And might find comment.
Goodness Gracious! What fun! A comment...

But absolutely do not blog for comments.
No. No.
Not.

This is not a comment. I've been overrun by an infinite number of monkeys. As luck would have it, I also have an infinite number of keyboards (return key jammed when ordering online). And look what one of them has just written...I love Ladybird World Mum's blog it is gwquoert ypuwqrt.

Go on - admit it. That number of comments got you excited for a moment!

Ladybird World Mother said...

You total bum!!! Was so excited that shouted!!! Oh dear. Oh well, at least it looks good. Loved the comment someone left on yours about when she had over 100 comments, and how her blogger 'friends' got lost in all the other comments. Has made me think differently, I must say.
No go away bad boy and get packed.

Naughty Troy! I confess I'm a comment tart - I love 'em. There more interesting than my posts!

Tim Atkinson said...

And I know, that should be 'They're'! It's early - and we've been up on and off all night with Charlie. (He's got krupe - and I can't spell that!)

DJ Kirkby said...

Lol to Troy's un comment. This isn't a comment either :) I just came to read your post and sort of fell into this space....thought it might be rude if I didn't explain why I was here...

MikeH said...

This isn't a comment, it's a pithy remark. Nice post.

misterwoppit said...

I was just reading your blog title and the strapline of "No bollocks. Just life" and wondering whether this was a description of your blog or a description of yourself? Or perhaps both? Either way, probably accurate.

Kevin Musgrove said...

The nice thing about comments is that the consequent discussions often take on a life of their own and get really "interesting".

Yorkshire Pudding said...

This blogpost reminds me of an excellent novel I read earlier this year - "The Damned United" by David Peace - imagining Brian Clough's time at Leeds United. I think it what's called "being in denial" - you know like when a fat lady takes another cream cake.

By the way, how can there be any life without bollocks? They are quite essential appendages.

Kevin Musgrove said...

I put my vote in for bollocks: if they didn't exist we'd have nothing to say at work.

Hadriana's Treasures said...

V.G. Keep up the good work...bollocks and all...

DJ Kirkby - thanks for non comment. And for falling into this space. And for nice comments on other posts. Non comments, of course.
Mikeh - pithy remark, eh? What a pithy. Thanks anyway!
misterwoppit - I have absolutely no bollocks. Well, last time I checked. Better check again.
Nope. None.
Kevin musgrove - yes, this has taken on a load of bollocks theme. It seems. Glad you support them. Good to see you!
Yorkshire pudding - denial... moi??? (will have to take a look at that book. )
Hadriana - thank you! Will try to have balls to keep up this bollocks.
Suburbia - you absolutely do not do this for comments. No. Not. Nope. Never. ;)
Thanks all! I have had such a nice day having the odd look. Which, of course, I have had to do, just in case.

I'm glad someone else deludes themself that they are "casually" scrolling down on their blog and saying it doesn't matter if there are no comments. Its quite comforting.

Hope you don't mind me visiting. I was just passing by

Your blog looks great

Reading several of your non-comments brought this to mind which you might appreciate -

this isn't a comment either, more an observation that you have got me addicted to ever so casually taking a peek to see if there are comments on my blog too.....

Vodka Mom said...

Ladybird World Mother said...

Google mummy - go on, take a peek! Thanks for the absolutely non comment...
Vodka mom - oh god I want to be there too... and it was only 6 weeks ago that pic was taken... seems a bloody life time away! thanks for non comment...and the hi!

Leilani Schuck Weatherington said...

I do not blog for comments either. Fortunately, because I have gone for months without a comment.

Ladybird World Mother said...

Diddly dum.. whistle, whistle..not checking comments really. Just humming away and OH LOOK MORE COMMENTS!
Thanks Leilana lee! Hows the keyboard???!

Jen - Queen of Poo said...

LOL!

I LOVE comments. I wouldn't love blogging nearly so much without them. I'm either a narcissist or badly in need of validation. Thank God for blogging and comments! :-D

I love to get comments and I think I would feel very sad if I wrote a post and didn't get any.

It is liberating to turn the comments off occasionally though and just write. Not that i have done that for several months - but it does feel very different, knowing that no-one will speak to you about what you have written.

You have got a lot of comments here anyway - not that you will have noticed, of course.

Far Side of Fifty said...

Well I am not leaving a comment either. Just so you know and don't get a big head or anything:)

Neither do I.

I do everything for comments! Love them, can't live without them, they are the air I breathe.

Ladybird World Mother said...

Jen- totally agree... am in need of a tiny validation now and then...
Reluctant blogger - now there'a thing... could I try that I wonder. Sort of have, as have another blog just for writing book. Havent got very far but I know I can write without distraction of comment envy!
far side of fifty - head remains very small from no comments. But thanks all the same!
crystal jigsaw - absolutely not, no. Never saw your comment. But thanks all the same for me seeing your name...
Suzanne - oh Suzanne, that was almost poetry! Or maybe a song... perhaps there should be one about blogging and our love affairs with the comments box.
thanks for yours anyway!

No comment then. Just to let you know that I have read your post.

BUT YOU WON'T SUE ME IF I COMMENT?

Working Mum said...

Okay, I couln't resist joining in the commentfest on this one!

Mean Mom said...

You don't blog for comments?? What do you blog for, then?? ;0)

You don't seem to be aware of the blogging rule about comments, which is, that you're not allowed to get more comments than me. Hardly anyone seems aware of it, in fact and it's most frustrating!

'No bollocks'? But what would some men scratch, all day?

Like your blog. It's fun.

PS Did you enjoy the school play, or not? You were so busy crying, you never said.

Ladybird World Mother said...

cheshire wife - cant reply really as that was a non comment. But just to say thanks anyway!!
david mc - I definitely wont sue you this time. Probably.
working mum - commentfest!! like it. All because of that Troy. Would only have 2 if it werent for his 39. (My maths is bad.)
Mean mom - oh my god I am so Sorry to have broken that rule...or have I?? Will have to pay your blog a visit!
I LOVED that play... through the tears. Bollocks as in.. no bollocks. Very true but men might scratch buttocks, I reckon, dont you??

imbeingheldhostage said...

Holy cow for someone who is not interested in comments, you've drawn in 45-- before me. (and yes, EAT counts) (literally) ;-)

Maybe I should put a statement on my blog that I don't care to receive comments....

Ladybird World Mother said...

imbeingheldhostage - good eh?? Shame I cant get to 50. I can always do them to myself. what do you think?? Not that I read them. Ever.
