Le Pox de Poulet

It's back.
Bigger. More lethal.
Requiring attention and military detail.
Cancelling everything else in order to give time EXCLUSIVELY to it.
So familiar and yet so strange.
Yes.
Chicken Pox is back.
Youngest has discovered spots in orifices he didn't even know he had.
He is COVERED.
Almost got to the point where they all join up.
Am doing comforting things and being generally rather a Good Egg.
He is not impressed.
At all.
'My bottom itches.  MUM. It ITCHES'
Clearly I can't scratch that area for him.  Can I?
No.
And how on EARTH is he to scratch that one INSIDE HIS EAR.
Calamine lotion not here yet, as Husband will bring some.  Helpfully, he won't be home until 1.00 am.
Oh, well.
Meanwhile will continue to be in Patient Mother Mode (PMM) until Husband Get Home. (HGH)
Valium, anyone?

2 out of 3 of mine had me suffering through that last week. Erm, I mean •they• were suffering through that.

besides calamine lotion, some of the other topical "anti-itch" medicine (say for bug bites) seemed to help.

Hope the husband brings home lotion for the boy and wine for you!

Oh no. I remember that all these years later. I swear I had it for about three years. Scars lasted for ages too. I had my kids vaccinated. They're quite big on that over here. Not a 100% guarantee though.
Bum - I've just jinxed it haven't I?

The dreaded pox! Mine managed to get it just in time for us to have to cancel our holiday...as they wouldn't let us on the aeroplane with a pox infested child. Perfect timing!

At least these days it is free range chicken pox.

Oh, bless all your little hearts... the free range chicken pox (thanks for that Troy!) is on its way, helped out with quantities of bicarbonate of soda in his THREE baths a day, plus calamine lotion dabbed pretty well everywhere, including his willy. Yes, that's right, his WILLY. Poor mite. May I just add that HE dabbed it on his willy. Bridge too far and all that. 2 more days off school, and I think that will be that. (happy sigh... looking forward to GETTING OUT OF THE HOUSE) XXX

The little man hasn't had the pox yet but a lot of my friends are actively looking around for those struck down in the hope they might pas it on to their brood. To quote one mum: "I've gotta get me some". Not sure I'm so keen - I remember it form when I was little and it itched, A LOT.

Poor boy I do sympathise. Both my children had it - my son, like yours, was absolutely covered including ears and willy but daughter only had a few. Do hope the itching stops soon and he is well on the road to recovery. Once he is back to school you can lie down in a darkened room. A x

I forgot to add the five questions for you to answer on the Liebster blog award post I did. I have now added them to the post but here they are below:
01. Why did you start blogging? What do you get out of it?

02. What's your parenting style?

03. What is the best place in the world for you?

04. What has been your most exciting experience?

Mum Down South said...

I am being such a clot with this! Here is the last question:

05. What has been your scariest moment as a mum?

Will leave you alone now!

Thanks so much for commenting on my blog last night with your great ideas for our Suffolk trip. It was so lovely to see your name pop up: I thought, 'ooh, I've not been over to yours for ages'. So here I am. I see you've been busy with poorly children and, from previous posts, writing a book.
Lovely to catch up x
